Behavioral Health Therapist (Outpatient Clinic)

JOB TITLE: Per Diem or Part Time Behavioral Health Therapist (Outpatient Clinic)

POSITION GRADE: 81 [ salary range: 27.47-42.17hr commensurate with education and experience , part-time is benefit eligible at 20 hours a week]

FLSA STATUS: Non- Exempt

DEPARTMENT/PROGRAM: Outpatient Behavioral Health Services

SUPERVISOR: Clinical Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Clinical Supervisor, the Behavioral Health Therapist is responsible for providing therapy for individuals, groups, and families. The Behavioral Health Therapist will also be responsible for the maintenance of client records in compliance with oversight agencies and agency policies. This individual will carry out all job responsibilities with fidelity and accountability to the Agencies Mission, Vision, Values, Guiding Principles and Strategic Plan and commitments to the Sanctuary Model of Care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Engage in crisis intervention services for individuals experiencing acute distress.
  • Exercises full compliance with the Agency's Code of Conduct, all Agency Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality and security for all client and staff related materials and/or records.
  • Utilize evidence based mental health therapy interventions for providing individual, group, and family therapy sessions.
  • Complete discharge summaries and coordinate transition planning.
  • Engage in case consultation with community providers as needed: Assess, evaluate, and discuss progress, updates, and interventions in the treatment plan as needed.
  • Provide mental health education and training for collaborative agency staff including but not limited to Mental Health First Aid, trauma-informed care, organizational trauma, and others as requested
  • Engage in person centered needs assessments to support linkages and referrals to other ongoing mental health services and community resources (including but not limited to health homes care management and housing resources).
  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy sessions as prescribed in the treatment plan using individualized evidence based therapeutic interventions.
  • Collaborate effectively with referral sources and collateral contacts.
  • Contact parents and appropriate authorities in case of emergencies.
  • Secure and link client and family to community resources.
  • Demonstrates, promotes and practices cultural competency toward clients and staff through respect and understanding achieved through training and agency cultural activities.
  • Develop an individualized treatment plan in collaboration with the client; and parent/guarding based on needs identified in assessment and complete treatment plan reviews with the client and parent/guardian.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of client records in compliance with Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG), the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) and Office of Mental Health (OMH), regulations to include, but not limited to: Initial assessment, diagnosis, treatment plans, treatment plan reviews and updates, daily treatment progress notes that include individual, group and family sessions and all admission and discharge paperwork.
  • Provides family counseling and educational sessions to parents, siblings and significant regarding understanding of the mental health diagnosis, symptom management and interventions.
  • Develop a comprehensive discharge plan for client that assures their ongoing treatment needs are met after discharge.
  • Work in alignment with Villa of Hope regulations and requirements
  • Travels as needed in the community to promote collaborative relationships and client centered care.
  • Provide in home, school based, and/or other community based mental health services to provide client centered care.
  • Collaborates regularly with residential treatment providers, school staff, referral sources, community providers, and collateral contacts.
  • Provides information about community resources to meet client needs to clients and family members.
  • Provides and participates in case consultation weekly
  • Connect clients to aftercare and community based long term mental health treatment, or inpatient services as indicated.
  • Coordinates case planning and progress internally through team meetings and individual contacts with other disciplines.
  • Make treatment recommendations and referrals based on information and data gathered during individual, family and group sessions.
  • Secure and link client and family to community resources whenever need is identified including community support groups.
  • Acts as advocate and liaison of client and family in securing other resources when appropriate.
  • Seeks clinical supervision to develop competencies and skills in areas of professional development.
  • Participates in individual supervision and group supervision for professional growth.
  • Participate in after hours on call system.
  • Performs other similar duties requiring comparable skills and as indicated in OMH Part 599 regulations and 598 integrated clinic services regulations.
  • Works to support program expansion by participating in clinic services related to growth. OTHER RESPONSIBLITIES:
    • Responsible for travel in the community when necessary with the use of personal vehicle.
    • Treatment of clients at other villa of hope outpatient clinic locations may be required as needed.
    • Completion of other documentation as required by regulations or program needs. COMPETENCIES:

            • Master's degree in human service required, Licensure required or eligible: LMSW, LMHC, LCAT, LMFT. CASAC or CASAC-T preferred, LCSW a plus!
            • Extensive experience serving individuals and youth with Serious Emotional Disturbances.
            • Experience working with youth who have co-occurring disorders.
            • Specialization in the area of, sexual trauma treatment, co-occurring disorders and family systems therapy.
            • Experience conducting treatment groups.
            • Computer skills, organizational and problem solving skills required.
            • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others required.
